Can’t Miss Events at the Lake

Spring at the Lake of the Ozarks is truly the precursor to getting ready for several months of fun within the Lake of the Ozarks community. This is the time of the year when everyone starts to plan a vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks and when most local events begin taking off! For a stacked list of can’t miss events, we’ve put together some of our favorites below so you can plan ahead for your best summer yet!


DOGWOOD FESTIVAL – APRIL 15th - APRIL 17th

The annual Dogwood Festival takes place in April and will be celebrating it’s 70th year in 2021! Taking place over three days, it is a great family friendly event that includes crafts, entertainment, the infamous parade, fish fry and plenty of delicious food! The Dogwood Festival is taking place at our neighbors up the road at Ozarks Amphitheater and a tour through Bridal Cave is the perfect addition to the day of festivities!

MAGIC DRAGON STREET MEET- APRIL 30th - MAY 2nd

The Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals is a fun showcase of a variety of makes, models and different years for cars, trucks and motorcycles. Now in it’s 33rd year, the annual Street Meet has hosted over 1,000 participants and more than 10,000 spectators! It’s held at the historic Bagnell Dam Strip at the Lake of the Ozarks at the end of April this year.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND – May 28, 29 & 30th

Memorial Day a fantastic opportunity to spend time with friends and family and at the Lake of the Ozarks, locals, and visitors alike kick off the official start of summer. Don't forget to make plans for a cool visit to Bridal Cave! Tours will be leaving every few minutes throughout the weekend! 

CANINE CANNONBALL- June 11th -June 13th

The annual Canine Cannonball jumping contest is a fun one for the WHOLE family, including your pet! Canine athletes compete in Big Air, Extreme Vertical, and Speed Retrieve at this event and onsite registration is available if you think your pup has what it takes!

CONCERT AT THE OZARKS AMPHITHEATER – July 4th

Another fun lake holiday is the Fourth of July! This year on July 4th, Ozarks Amphitheater is also hosting REO Speedwagon at the revived and spacious amphitheater. To purchase tickets, come and see us at Bridal Cave! If you pay in cash, you can avoid extra fees, and you'll get 25% off tour admission to the cave!

Explore Thunder Mountain Park

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Establishing the park Thunder Mountain Park was established in 1950 in order to protect the caves within it.  The amazing colors and incredible onyx formations inside of Bridal Cave  are all formed by minerals from rain water that seeps into the ground. Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . The History of Bridal Cave

Bridal Cave has a very interesting past.  It's story goes back long before the Lake of the Ozarks was created.  As early as 8,000 BC, Native Americans were using caves in the area for shelter, and more than likely Bridal Cave was one of those used.  We will begin this tale with the first organized exploration over 150 years ago of what is now known as one the best attractions at the Lake of the Ozarks . Bridal Cave Visitors Center, 1968 1856   The first organized exploration of portions of Bridal Cave is recorded.  B.D. Dodson is credited with this feat.  The next major exploration is done by S.W. Burke four years later.   1894 Over 5400 acres of land is purchased by Colonel R.G. Scott.  That area is now known as Ha Ha Tonka State Park, and it includes Bridal Cave.  Colonel Scott is very impressed and wants to know how it got the name Bridal Cave, so he begins researching the subject.  He is credited for being the first person to publish the now famous legend of Brida
