Lantern Tours are Back Starting Memorial Day Weekend!

It's that time of year again when summer kicks off here at the Lake of the Ozarks with Memorial Day Weekend almost here. One of the exciting things happening here at our natural attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks Memorial Day Weekend is our Lantern Tours are back for the season! Our Lantern Tours are a special tour only offered from Memorial Day through Labor Day and an absolute must do this summer if you've never been. Read on to learn more about our Lantern Tours at the Lake of the Ozarks.



If you've already taken a tour through Bridal Cave but you've never been on a lantern tour, you've got to put it on your summer bucket list! The Lantern tour is nothing like the regular tour given throughout the day because your guide will give you an in-depth history of Bridal Cave and the Lake of the Ozarks unlike you've ever heard before on the regular tour. Go back in time almost 150 years and get a first-hand perspective of what it might have been like for the first explorers to see Bridal Cave. 

This special 75 minute guided tour of Bridal Cave details the adventure of what cave exploring used to be before electric lights. Imagine the excitement of seeing this now famous cavern by hand-held lanterns. Your guide will give an in-depth history of Bridal Cave, Lake of the Ozarks and cave exploration over the centuries. Don’t miss one of the most exhilarating cave explorations in the Ozarks. Adults receive a souvenir LED lantern and Children receive a souvenir LED Cavers Helmet (not recommended for children 4 and under).

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
