Thunder Mountain Fall Festival Sneak Peek

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of Summer and lots of area attractions close down but Bridal Cave is open year round! As a matter of fact, Thunder Mountain Park comes alive for the Fall season with our Fall Festival in October. Last year was our first year for our Fall Festival and our staff and guests had so much fun that we decided to make the Fall Festival an annual event here at Thunder Mountain Park. Check out all the fun we had last year and why you need to make visiting our scenic attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks a priority this October.


Come for the Gorgeous Decorations Alone!   

Of course, we will have some extra activities for the entire family to enjoy but you'll want to make a trip if not for the fall decorations alone. Once Labor Day Weekend is over, our staff will be gearing up to turn our family attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks into a Fall paradise. From pumpkins, hay bales, mums, tractors and more every inch outside will be adorned with beautiful Fall decor. Get a peak of last years decorations below, but you'll have stay tuned for this years decore because we plan to make our Fall decorations even better for this year's Thunder Mountain Fall Festival!  


Enjoy The Weather 

Visiting our outdoor attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks in the Fall is the perfect way to enjoy the gorgeous weather that goes along with Fall. For many of us, a crisp Fall day is some of our favorite weather to enjoy all year. We will have a variety of outdoor activities to participate in while enjoying some time in the outdoors this Fall. 

Family Fun...As it Should Be! 

As we mentioned early, after Labor Day is over, many of the local attractions close down. This really limits the family activities at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you are looking for something for the whole family to enjoy, remember to keep our Fall Festival in mind this October. You can enjoy taking a tour of Bridal Cave as usual and partake in everything our Fall Festival has to offer. 


2nd Annual Thunder Mountain Fall Festival 

When you buy a ticket to tour Bridal Cave, all of our awesome fall festival activities are included with your admission every weekend in October. Tour tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for kids ages 9-12, and children under 4 are free. Our staff is excited to start gearing up for our 2nd annual Fall Festival at the Lake of the Ozarks. This year's Fall Festival will be similar to last years but we do plan on making it even better. You will have to stay tuned to find out just what our improvements will be this year. Look for more details in future blogs but the best way to find out all the changes is to make plans to spend the day with us one weekend in October!

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
