Join Us In Welcoming The VFW Post 5923 Bunker Bar & Grill!

Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park would like to join the community in congratulating VFW Post 5923 in Camdenton on the opening of their brand new building. This new location is not only for VFW members, but instead has been opened to the public and contains a brand new restaurant, the Bunker Bar & Grill. Dining at this home-style, family-friendly restaurant not only offers you a delicious meal, but also the chance to support the VFW organization and its members.

At one point, people were worried that this project would never come to be, but after three years of fundraising, hard work, and lots of volunteers, it finally opened its doors on August 3, 2017 and hosted a grand opening on September 3. It wasn't just the veterans and the VFW Auxiliary that stepped up to make this dream a reality, but also many generous local individuals and businesses, plus soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood. Many were eager to donate money, materials, time, and labor.

All of that teamwork resulted in a place that offers the general public a restaurant, bar, meeting room, hall rental, live music, games, and a place to meet up with friends and family. The entire building is smoke-free. The restaurant has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that is kid-friendly. You'll find home-style dishes on the menu to please everyone, including appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, and burgers. They even offer some incredible dinner specials each week. Inside the bar area, there is a large square bar that includes a special seat reserved for POW-MIA. You can enjoy a game of darts, pool, and even Keno. If you want to catch your favorite sports team in action, you can do so on the 15 HD TVs in the building.

The Bunker Bar & Grill is located at 63 VFW Road in Camdenton, just a short drive from our Lake of the Ozarks family attraction. Their hours (subject to change) are:

 Restaurant:
-Wed-Sat: 11 am - 7 pm
-Sunday: noon - 7 pm

 Bar:
-Wed-Thurs: 11 m - 11 pm
-Fri-Sat: 11 am - 1 am
-Sun: noon - 11 pm

 The next time you are in Camdenton, stop by and give this wonderful new restaurant and bar a try. Even though it is now open, there is still work to be done and monthly financial obligations to meet. Your patronage helps to make these things happen, and they cannot stress enough that everyone is welcome at the Bunker Bar & Grill. The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
