Head to Bridal Cave Before School Starts to Celebrate National Family Fun Month!

It's almost time for the kids to head back to school which means the countdown to the end of summer fun is on! Since August is National Family Fun Month, why not make plans in the next week to bring the kiddos to Bridal Cave! We have plenty to keep your family busy inside the park! Read on to learn how you can have some family fun before school starts.

Panning For Gemstones

Kids (and adults!) LOVE panning for gemstones in our sluice. All you have to do is purchase a bag of sand inside the gift shop and take it outside to our sluice and pan for a variety of rough-cut gemstones! The kids love finding treasures in the sand and the best part is this fun activity doubles as a souvenir! Depending on which bag you choose, you will go home with a variety of Emeralds, Fools Gold, Amethyst, Garnets, Sapphires, and more!

Check Out Our Rock Shop

We have one of the largest rock shops at the Lake of the Ozarks. We love to see the kid's eyes light up when they see all of the wonderful treasures inside our shop. Sometimes it's just fun to look around and spend time learning about the different rocks and minerals we have in our shop. Don't worry about your kids touching everything because after all, they are rocks!

Take an Underground Adventure

Of course, one of the best ways to spend time with your family at Bridal Cave is to take a tour of our cave at the Lake of the Ozarks! Guided tours leave every few minutes and last approximately one hour. Tours are conducted over concrete pathways through the Cave’s refreshing 60-degree environment. Park interpreters will lead you and your family through room after room of incredible mineral deposits. Giant columns, delicate soda straws, and massive draperies abound throughout the cave. Millions of years of struggle between water and rock have created this cavern with more onyx formations than any other known cave or cavern. In fact, thousands of school children each year explore Bridal Cave as part of their educational program. A tour through Bridal Cave is a family adventure you will never forget.

Explore the Outdoors

While you are here, there are plenty of photo opportunities while you are inside the park! Bridal Cave is located at the 10.5 MM of the Big Niangua Arm of Lake of the Ozarks, so you want to plan for extra time to take in all of the beauty around the park. Have a boat? Feel free to boat over and tie up to our dock!

Take a Hike

As a part of Thunder Mountain Park, we have a 1/2 mile nature trail. Wind through the gorgeous scenery and make a stop at our outdoor classroom, see beautiful limestone shelves, and enjoy the beauty of the Northern slopes of Thunder Mountain Park. You should be able to catch a few cooler days in August which is perfect for taking a hike on the nature trail. There is no charge to hike the trail so you have no reason not to go!

Family Fun...As It Should Be!

It's the last blast of summer break, so why not take advantage and celebrate National Family Fun Month at one of the BEST family-friendly attractions at the Lake of the Ozarks! Bridal Cave is open daily for tours and we can't wait to see you and your family at our attraction!
