Bridal Cave Lantern Tours are Back for the Season!

Our lantern tours are officially back for the season and if you didn't get a chance to go last year, you will want to make sure to make it a top priority this year! Go back in time almost 150 years and explore Bridal Cave as the first explores did...by lantern! This is our second year offering lantern tours at our family attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks and we are excited to have this special tour back for the Summer season. About the Lantern Tour 

This special 75 minute guided tour of Bridal Cave details the adventure of what cave exploring used to be before electric lights. Imagine the excitement of seeing this now famous cavern by hand-held lanterns. Your guide will give an in-depth history of Bridal Cave, Lake of the Ozarks and cave exploration over the centuries. Don’t miss one of the most exhilarating cave explorations in the Ozarks.

When are the Lantern Tours?

Our lantern tour is only offered on Saturday evening at 7pm, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Space is limited and you don't want to miss out on this unique experience of seeing our Missouri Show Cave just like the first explorers did!


How Do I Make a Reservation for the Lantern Tour? 

For this tour only, reservations are required. To make a reservation for our lantern tour, you can go to www.BridalCave.com/lantern-tours and book your tour online. For reservations less than 7 days' notice please call the Reservations Department at 573-346-2676. Payment is required at the time of the reservation. Please note that discounts and comp passes are not valid for the lantern tour.

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
