Lake Race 2018!

Lake Race is THIS weekend! You won't want to miss this event this year! This week-long event at the Lake of the Ozarks will be full of exciting powerboat racing and racing theme parties around the lake! The first event for Lake Race this year is on Thursday, May 31st and the Offical Race day is Saturday, June 2nd. This will be the ultimate race this Summer and you won't want to miss out! Even though the race is only one day, there will be other Lake Race Themed Events going on all week! Be sure to stick around the area and experience all the fun that goes along with Lake Race. Below are the schedule of events for Lake Race this year.

Schedule of Events 
Thursday, 5/31/18; 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Lake Race Festival of Speed
Location: Big Thunder Marine Showrooms in Lake Ozark

Kick off the Lake Race at Big Thunder Showroom with exhibits on fast cars, boats, motorcycles and more! Big Thunder Showroom is on Bagnell Dam Blvd. but all parking will be located at the old Staples building. Shuttles are extended from 4pm to 9pm. Stop by to meet some of the racers who have arrived by Thursday. Food, snacks, and beverages will be available at the Big Thunder showroom.

Friday, 6/1/18; 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm: Lake Race Meet & Greet Street Party
Location: On the Bagnell Dam Strip (Bagnell Dam Blvd.)

Meet the drivers and view the speedboats up close at the Lake Race Meet and Greet Street Party on the Historic Bagnell Dam Strip. There will be entertainment AND a Kid's Zone. Shuttles will be available starting at 4pm throughout the weekend. ALL Lake Race Parking will be at the campground below the dam. 

Saturday, 6/2/18; All Day: Official Races
Location: Beaver's at the Dam; Race Course at the 0MM to 3MM

You won't want to miss the main event on race day! There will be powerboats coming from all across the nation to compete in the Lake Race! You can view the race by land on Bagnell Dam and Beavers at the Dam.

Saturday, 6/2/18; Awards Ceremony After Official Races Conclude
Location: Camden On The Lake

After the race is over, watch the victors receive their awards at Camden on the Lake. Cheer on the winners at the Awards Ceremony! 

Saturday, 6/2/18; After Party With Fireworks
Location: Beaver's at the Dam & Lower End of Bagnell Dam Strip

Head back to the Bagnell Dam Strip for various entertainment and watch fireworks go off at dusk!

Friday, 6/8/18; 10:00 am: Lake Race Props & Hoses Poker Fun Run
Location: Starting at Camden on the Lake at 10:00am.

$20 raffle tickets available at each location for a 50/50 Drawing at Camden at the Lake at 4:00pm.

Saturday, 6/9/18; 7:00 am: Lake Race 5K Run or Walk
Location: Starting at Beaver's at the Dam.
Registration: 7:00 am, Race begins at 8:00 am.

Participants will proceed below the Dam on Valley Rd, to JJ Twigs, and down Business 54 (The Strip) back to Beaver’s. Come out to support a good cause and have fun competing at the Lake Race 5K Run or Walk! A cash bar and raffle will follow directly after the race is over.

Tuesday, 6/12/18; 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm: "Paddle Battle 2018"
Location: Franky & Louise; 1028 Deer Valley Rd in Sunrise Beach, MO (10MM)


Hosted by Frankie & Louie's Beachfront Bar & Grill come out to the Paddle Battle! 3-person teams will race on paddle boards for the titles: 1st place, Last Place, and the best costume! This is a family fun event and fun for all. All ages are allowed to participate with a $25 per team entry fee.

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
