October Fun for the Whole Family at Bridal Cave!

Our Thunder Mountain Fall Festival is off to a tremendous start, the decorations and the natural scenic beauty around the park is breathtaking, and we've got tons of fun planned at Bridal Cave all month long! Have you had the chance to enjoy our brand new annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks yet? It adds even more fun and excitement to our family attraction! 

Beautiful Scenery
Bridal Cave is well-known as one of America's most scenic cave tours. It remains a constant 60° inside the cave, and you will see room after room of incredible mineral deposits, giant columns, stalactites and stalagmites, massive draperies, and so much more all created over millions of years of formation. 

 Outside, in Thunder Mountain Park, you've got nature trails to explore and of course, that amazing lake view. Right now for the Thunder Mountain Fall Festival, we've also added all kinds of gorgeous fall decorations and so many pumpkins, you'd think we were a pumpkin patch! If you're looking for a fun way to spend a day this fall, it's time for a trip to visit us!  

Bonus Activities
When you buy a ticket to tour Bridal Cave, all of our awesome fall festival activities are included with your admission. Tour tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for kids ages 9-12, and children under 4 are free. Cave tours run every few minutes beginning at 9:00 am. We stay open until 5:00 pm until October 15, and after that we'll begin closing at 4:00 pm. 

 Now for those bonus activities we talked about in addition to the incredible cave tour. We've transformed the park into an autumn oasis where you can enjoy:

Explore Thunder Mountain Park

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Establishing the park Thunder Mountain Park was established in 1950 in order to protect the caves within it.  The amazing colors and incredible onyx formations inside of Bridal Cave  are all formed by minerals from rain water that seeps into the ground. Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
