**COMING SOON - Thunder Mountain Fall Festival 🍁🎃

As summer comes to a close, we want to say thank you to all of our guests that made our summer great! We love getting to interact with guest from all across the United States and even some from out of the country! Even though summer is almost over, you can still enjoy our family attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks because we are open all year long for family fun! In fact, we are started gear up and get excited about our annual fall festival at the Lake of the Ozarks! This will be our third year hosting our Thunder Mountain Fall Festival and it gets bigger and better every single year! Read on to learn more about the fall festivities we have planned!




What is the Fall Festival? 

If you haven't had the chance to come to one of our Fall Festivals you seriously have got to make it a top priority this year! You may be wondering, well what is the fall festival - I thought you were a cave? What we love about our Fall Festival you get to do all of the fun things we normally have in the park like taking a cave tour of one of America's most scenic caverns, taking a hike on our nature trail, checking out our cool rocks in our rock shop that come from all across the world AND enjoy the fun fall festival activities and it's all included in the price of your cave tour admission!

Our Fall Festival is full of fun fall activities! We don't have the actual pumpkin patch but think about all of the fun activities that you enjoy at a pumpkin patch and that's what you'll find at Thunder Moutain Fall Festival! Don't worry, even though we don't have a pumpkin patch, we won't be lacking in the pumpkin department. We haul in thousands of pumpkins and hundreds of mums and decorate the entire park to make it feel like you are at a pumpkin patch! The park is truly spectacularly decorated during our Fall Festival and we are already thinking about new ways to decorate this year! 

Fall Festival Activites 

Our Fall Festival will open on Saturday, October 5th and will be open on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the entire month of October. When you purchase a ticket for the Bridal Cave Tour, you get to enjoy all of the fall festival activities while you're in the park. A few things to look forward to are:

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Establishing the park Thunder Mountain Park was established in 1950 in order to protect the caves within it.  The amazing colors and incredible onyx formations inside of Bridal Cave  are all formed by minerals from rain water that seeps into the ground. Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
