Christmas on the Square in Camdenton!

The holidays are here and it's time to get into the holiday spirit if you haven't already! If you're looking for a fun way to get into the holiday spirit the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Christmas On the Square on Saturday, December 7th! This event is packed full of family fun and you won’t want to miss out on the festivities! Read on to get all the details from our family attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Running of the Elves 5k 

A memorable and fun event that takes place every year during Christmas on the Square is the running of the Elves 5k! Burn off those holiday calories and have FUN while doing it! Registration includes a t-shirt and elf hats with ears. Entry fee is $25 – call the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce to register! 573-346-2227. 


Christmas on the Square Activities

Starting at 10:00 a.m. there will be all kinds of fun holiday themed activities to enjoy with your family. There will be games, ornament making, chocolate snowmen, prize drawings, craft tables, music, cookie decorating, a petting zoo, hot dogs, hot chocolate, cookies, and a special visit by Olaf, Anna, Elsa of Frozen and Santa! 


Hawthorn and Oak Ridge Choirs Will Perform 

Support our local elementary school choirs at Christmas on the Square. School quartets and solos will be performing from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Can-Do Challenge 

People are encouraged to bring canned goods that will be donated to the Lamb House food pantry. Businesses, churches, and clubs/organizations are encouraged to participate. The group that brings the most canned goods will be presented with a Can-Do Trophy!

After you’re done with Christmas on the Square, why not continue the family fun with a cave tour through Bridal Cave! Our Lake of the Ozarks cave is located just a few miles from the square. Our scenic attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks is always a comfortable 60 degrees, so no matter what the weather is doing outside you can warm up inside the cave. The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
