FUN Weekend at Bridal Cave - Fall Festival & Harbor Hop Dealer

Our Fall Festival at the Lake of the Ozarks is off to a great start and if you missed us last weekend, no worries because Thunder Mountain Fall Festival is open every weekend in October! Bridal Cave and Thunder Mountain Park is already gorgeous in the fall but when you add thousands of pumpkins, hundreds of mums, straw bails, and other fall decor throughout the park -- it's even more beautiful! Read on to find out what to expect this October when you visit our cave at the Lake of the Ozarks.


Beautiful Scenery

Bridal Cave is a well-known as one of America's most scenic cave tours. It remains a constant 60° inside the cave, and you will see room after room of incredible mineral deposits, giant columns, stalactites and stalagmites, massive draperies, and so much more all created over millions of years of formation.

Outside, in Thunder Mountain Park, you've got nature trails to explore and of course, that amazing lake view. Right now for the Thunder Mountain Fall Festival, we've also added all kinds of gorgeous fall decorations and so many pumpkins, you'd think we were a pumpkin patch! Even though we didn't grow all of the pumpkins at our fall festival, we purchased all of the pumpkins and fall decor from local farmers! At Bridal Cave, supporting our local community is important to us and that's why we bought all of our decore locally!

This Saturday, October 12th is the 34th Annual Harbor. The Annual Fall Harbor Hop is the last big boating event of the year. Boaters spend the day "hoping" from over 40 on the water business drawing one card per stop to try and win the best poker hand! Explore Thunder Mountain Park

The most scenic cave tour in Missouri is surrounded by the natural beauty of Thunder Mountain Park .  This incredible Lake of the Ozarks attraction  covers hundreds of acres.  It spreads over more than a mile of Lake of the Ozraks shoreline, a mile of highway frontage along Old Missouri Route 5, and all the acreage in between.  That is a lot of nature to be explored! Spend Your Spring Break at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for Spring Break! You don't need to travel to some sandy beach to get away from everything. Our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction feels lucky to be located in the center of some of the most natural beauty in America. There's no need to travel any further than right here, the Midwest's Coast!  There are buds on the trees and the flowers are beginning to bloom, the fish are biting, and the lake is calling out to us all! Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are even extending our hours to kick off Spring Break, and we'll be open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm beginning March 11, 2017 . Stalactites & Stalagmites - Which is Which?

Caves in Missouri , as well as around the world, are filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Everyone has heard of these, but most people have trouble remembering which is which.  Today's Bridal Cave blog will hopefully help you to remember once and for all which one hangs from the ceiling and which one hangs from the floor.  We'll even teach you some interesting facts about how both are formed.   There are a couple of different ways that people use to help them keep these two types of formations straight.  Stalactites are fixed "tight" to the ceiling, and stalagmites "might" trip you when you walk.  Another trick is to use the spelling. StalaCtite has a "C" like the Ceiling from which it hangs, and stalaGmites have a "G" like the Ground they grow on.  You may think these ideas sound corny, but we bet at least one of them will stick with you and you will always remember!
