Bridal Cave - The #1 Family Getaway

The best family attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks is open 7 days a week, all year-round.  Bridal Cave is full of all kinds of exciting things to see and do.  No matter what your age, every member of your family is sure to find something intriguing both in the cave and all around Thunder Mountain Park

The Cave

The highlight of a visit to our Lake of the Ozarks attraction is the cave tour.  The 60 degree environment in the cave is a great way to cool off in the Summer, and an excellent way to enjoy nature without freezing in the Winter.  Kids of all ages can't resist the adventure of exploring the inside of a legendary cave.  It will feel like you have stepped out of real life and into a storybook for an hour.

Legends & Folkore

Our knowledgeable tour guides are well-versed in the history of Bridal Cave.  They will charm you with the tales that have been passed down over the years.  You will hear all about the legendary Native American wedding ceremony that was held there in the early 1800s, the secret of "Mystery Lake," and so much more.  Not only is a trip through Bridal Cave fun, but it is also educational.

Picnic Area, Observation Deck & Nature Trails

Thunder Mountain Park allows our visitors the chance to enjoy the beautiful land surrounding the cave. You can make an entire day trip out of it. Pack a picnic, hike the nature trails, and get a look at some incredible rocks, minerals, and gemstones in our gift shop. A favorite activity is sifting through bags of sand in the spring water in front of the gift shop. Any treasures that you find are yours to keep!  All of this, right next to a breathtaking view of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.

"Kids Only" Adventure News

Our website has one page dedicated for "Kids Only," but we're sure they will let you visit it with them.  Either click through the links on the page to read all about each of the educational subjects, or download a copy of the "Adventure News."  Read through it before your visit to prepare everyone for what they will be seeing, or read more after your tour to expand on what you learned and relive the fun.  There is even a cool experiment at the end for you to try.

Discovery Tour

This tour is a 2-hour educational program sponsored by Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park.  Outdoor classrooms will be explored, you will take a flashlight tour of Bear Cave with your very own souvenir flashlight to take home, and get a special interpretive tour of Bridal Cave.  Give us a call at 573-346-2676 if you would like to find out how you can get signed up for this very special tour.

Here are a few reviews from TripAdvisor.com from very happy visitors that joined us with their families recently.

"Great cave. This cave is very pretty. We enjoyed our tour. I loved the fact that we got to squeeze through some tighter spaces. My 6 old loved that he was allowed to touch all the way down the first stairway. Very nice gift shop."
- Sherri R.

"We just had the Bridal Cave tour and it was fabulous. Tour guide was smart and funny. Interesting for all ages. The cave is fairly easy to move thru, with only a few tight squeezes. While waiting for the tour we took a scenic walk thru the mountain. Kids loved it." - Sara S.

"This is a family favorite where we visited with our kids and grandkids now. Took time to soak in the view outside over the lake before taking the cave tour. Entering the cave, we met Harmony the guide who was knowledgeable, friendly and injected humor into the tour. The path through the cave was an easy journey but had a few tight passages through the lemon squeezer. The cave is extremely well maintained and has grand views, the organ, the guardian angel, slabs of bacon and Mystery Lake. Our family talked about the ladder and raft in Mystery Lake, theories of searching for gold were discussed along with a joke played by early explorers. The kids shared a bag to sift through in the spring water outside the front entrance which brought excitement as they found minerals after washing through a screen much like panning for gold. We stopped for lunch afterward as the family had worked up an appetite after this couple of hour trek!" -Marla Broton

Travel Expert Colleen Kelly, along with her family, paid a visit to the Lake of the Ozarks this year too.  If you would like to see the entire video featuring many other local spots that are wonderful for families, you can find it on the Family Travel YouTube channel.  Below is an excerpt featuring their visit to Bridal Cave.
