Recycle Your Christmas Trees at Bridal Cave

Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park are performing a couple of good deeds with one simple action. Your favorite attraction at the Lake of the Ozarks will be taking your Christmas trees once you are done with them, helping you get rid of that large item after the holidays, and at the same time helping to improve fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks.

That glorious, festively decorated Christmas tree is the center of attention throughout your holiday season. Once you are done celebrating and the lights and decorations have been removed, you have the problem of figuring out what to do with the tree. Most Missouri landfills do not accept Christmas trees.

From Decoration To Habitat
We suggest giving it back to nature by recycling that used tree into a habitat for fish at the Lake of the Ozarks. This is not only a great way to make sure the tree doesn't go to waste, but it's also a wonderful lesson for children about recycling. Instead of simply becoming trash, this beauty of nature can instead be turned into a much need habitat for the many species of fish that live in the Lake of the Ozarks.

Greg Stoner, a Fisheries Management Biologist for the MO Department of Conservation, said, "This is a win-win situation. It will help keep discarded trees from along the lake's roadways and provide much needed cover for fish at the Lake."

Bring Us Your Trees!
We would like to assist you in recycling that Christmas tree. We'll be taking them and placing them in the Niangua Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks. Simply drop off your old tree with all of the decorations removed, and we'll take care of the rest. We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but other than that, bring them by.

just north of Camdenton, MO
9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily

Steve Thompson, General Manager of the park, stated, "It seemed like an ideal opportunity to help recycle the old Christmas trees as we have the room on our parking facility to collect the discarded trees, are located right on the lake, and have the shoreline to place the beds.

A Special Bonus For You
As an added incentive, our scenic Lake of the Ozarks attraction would like to give something back to you for giving back to nature. For every tree donated, you will receive a coupon good for 25% off admissions anytime during the 2017 season. (Can you believe that 2017 is only a little over a week away!?!) For more information, please contact Steve Thompson at 573-346-2676 or email info@BridalCave.com. Enjoy those beautiful Christmas trees a little while longer, then bring them on over to Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park and let the fish enjoy them for the rest of the year.

2016 Christmas Fun at the Lake of the Ozarks

The weather has finally gotten cold enough to really feel like Christmas time around here. Our scenic mid-Missouri cave tour is always an excellent cold-weather activity, but there are a few additional fun things going on around the lake area that are only offered during the holidays. Here are few fun suggestions from Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park

Christmas Light Displays
  • Enchanted Village of Lights - Laurie Fairgrounds
    • They claim to be one of the largest drive-through holiday light parks in mid-Missouri. It is free to drive through, but donations are welcome. They are open weeknights from 5-9 pm, and on weekends from 5-10 pm.
  • St. Patrick's Festival of Lights - Mother's Shrine
    • Located in Laurie, this is the oldest light park in the area. It has grown each year since 1981 to now include 4,000 strings of lights, over 60 automatic timers, and more than 350 extension cords. It is open daily from 6-10 pm through January 1 and is free to the public.
  • Osage Beach Holiday Lights - Osage Beach City Park
    • You can see a lovely display of holiday themed lights at the Osage Beach City Park and at a variety of spots along Osage Beach Parkway each Wednesday-Sunday until December 31. There is no entry fee to enjoy the fun.
  • Versailles Unity Circle of Lights - Versailles City Park
    • This is season #10 for this display that is named after the "Unity Circle" monument erected at the park entrance. It features as many as 40 lighted displays, including several animated holiday scenes the entire family will enjoy. You can see it from dark until midnight nightly until January 1, and admission is free.

Deck The Docks Holiday Light Cruises

This is the 6th year that Celebration Cruises has hosted this amazing cruise where proceeds benefit the Dogwood Animal Shelter. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday until December 30 you can travel the lake to view the enchanting light displays on the lakefront homes and docks in the area. Book your reservation at www.CruiseLakeOfTheOzarks.com or by calling 573-480-3212.

Frosty Float
Also hosted by Celebration Cruises, the final Frosty Float this year will take place on December 18 from 4-6 pm. It will be an afternoon filled with fun children's activities, hot cocoa, cookies, caroling, and of course, Santa himself! Reservations fill up quickly, so book your tickets early.

Christmas Village & Ice Skating
The outdoor ice rink at Old Kinderhook is open daily, and every weekend now until Christmas you can also enjoy their family fun Christmas Village. Experience s'mores around the campfire, gingerbread house making, horse drawn carriage rides, elf storytelling, Santa visits, and more.

Christmas On Main Street
Main Street Music Hall in The Landing on Osage Beach Parkway offers an entertaining show full of music, laughter, and incredible performances to get you into the Christmas spirit. It's good clean family fun for all ages, and it runs through December 18. For show times and tickets visit www.LakeMusicHall.com or call 573-348-9500.

That's just a sampling of a few of the wonderful holiday events and activities going on in the area for you to enjoy. Bridal Cave is always open for adventure year-round, so no matter what the weather, you can still get out and enjoy some good old, family friendly, natural fun. Don't forget that we've also got an incredible gift shop full of unique and amazing items for everyone on your Christmas list.

We're thrilled to be located in an area of the country that supports our favorite thing... Family fun... as it should be! Have a wonderful holiday season from all of us here at Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park

Bridal Cave Is Getting Ready For The 2017 Season

Your favorite Lake of the Ozarks attraction is still open this time of year, but since the crowds are a little smaller than they are mid-summer, we use this slower portion of the year to get the park ready for the 2017 season. Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park will feature some new and exciting things for our returning visitors next year.

New Backup Generator
Bridal Cave recently had a brand new backup generator installed. Since our cave is a constant 60° and safe from outdoor elements, we tend to get extremely busy during storms and bad weather. Visitors can always enjoy a natural adventure without worrying about what the weather is doing outdoors.

Before, if the power went out, anyone in the middle of a cave tour was literally left in the dark! A cool experience, but very difficult to get around or enjoy the beauty of the cave. With our brand new backup generator (which has already come in handy this year and works perfectly) we are now even more of an all-weather attraction than we were before. A special thank you goes out to Catalyst Electric, Laclede Electric, and Gasco Propane Co. for all of the hard work they put in to make this happen.

A New Mining Sluice!
Next on the list is restocking all of those incredible rocks, minerals, and gemstones that you see in our gift shop every year. Our general manager, Steve Thompson, just returned from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando, Florida. It is the biggest industry trade show in America.

The gemstone mining sluice that stands in front of our gift shop is always a very popular attraction. While attending the expo, Steve purchased a brand new sluice from Sandy Creek Mining Company for the 2017 season. It is twice as large as the old one and offers mining access to two entire classrooms of school children at once! That means a lot less waiting in line and a lot more having fun!

New Gift Shop Items
Steve also visited our rock and mineral importers while he was in Orlando for his annual shopping trip. This is when he hand-picks all of the unique specimens that we feature every year. One single room of the warehouse that Steve visited was dedicated to over 17,000 square feet of just Amethyst alone!

Along with the usual salt lamps, polished gemstones, fossils, and gemstone jewelry, several new items will be added to our inventory. There will be sterling silver gemstone rings, gemstone skulls, iron pyrite obliques and pyramids, petrified wood bookends and tables, just to name a few.

Clearance Sale Happening Now!
Trucks will be arriving late in January 2017 with all of our new items, and we will have everything on display just in time for our annual "Renew Your Vows for FREE" event on February 12, 2017. In the meantime, we need to make a little room for all of these incredible new additions.

Many of our gift shop items are on clearance right now, just in time for all of your Christmas shopping! We are here daily from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm, so be sure to stop by and check out the amazing deals we have in store for everyone on your list.

Bring the family out to visit our Lake of the Ozarks scenic attraction over the holidays. There is still lots to see and do here, even in the cold, winter months. We can't wait to show you all of the new items that we have coming to Bridal Cave for our 2017 season soon too. As always, we do our best to provide family fun... as it should be!
